Competition is killing your performance!
Isn’t it amazing the degree to which we compete?
We compete for attention in our relationships.
We compete to be the best ... cook, entertainer, partner, lover, business person, leader, parent ...
We compete to earn more money, more acknowledgment, more, more, more ... which fuels almost every economic system on the planet.
Here’s the rub: competition is built on the foundation of judgement, blame, projection, pass the buck, manipulation etc.
Competition normalizes the amygdala triggered fear response - our unconsciously biased fight response, flight response and even freeze response. Hell, competition promotes all of us tapping into the fear response all at once. And most telling of all, competition fuels the logic of macro economics, and top down governance, top down economics, finance, medicine, law etc. through closed loop democracy.
Then you add a Pandemic ... It’s a bit of a mess, yes.
But, it tends to be messes that catch our attention.
The bigger the mess the more likely we are to wake up - which ultimately, will be really, really good.
